Cool It Down Already: A Playlist

It’s the middle of September in Macon, Georgia, and I just sweat through my shirt for the second time today. This shouldn’t be happening. Fall should be here. Thankfully, there are brief moments of respite after the sun goes down when the city slightly cools and it feels like fall just might have a chance of arriving. I’ve been soundtracking those moments with songs that somehow signal the changing of seasons to me. In hopes of sonically coaxing a bit of cooler weather out of the world, here’s a playlist to share:

The Glands – I Can See My House From Here

Gorky’s Zygotic Mynci – Stood On Gold

Four Tet – Circling

Minks – Funeral Song

Mazarin – We’re Already There

Nick Drake – Northern Sky

Kim Jung Mi – The Sun

NRBQ – Things To You

Beat Happening – Indian Summer

Duster – Gold Dust

Bill Fay – Don’t Let My Marigolds Die

Destroyer – Maria De La Nieves

J.J. Cale – Magnolia

Sparklehorse – It’s A Wonderful Life

Air – Mike Mills

Julie Byrne – Prism Song

Tasha Dorji – Death Flowers
